The LFVR acknowledges its origins in the Legion of Frontiersmen, formed in 1904, and it is allied to the Countess Mountbatten's Own Frontiersmen. It is a company Incorporated in England & Wales under the Companies Act. The LFVR is primarily concerned with assisting the community at large wherever possible, it is self funding and the members devote their time and effort, free of charge. The LFVR has a link to the Veterans Agency in the United Kingdom, and enjoys the Patronage of the Countess Mountbatten. The organisation is non-political and non sectarian, people from all walks of life are free to make application to join. The great news of 2007 is that the LFVR has teamed up with, SOS Children's Villages to assist in raising funds for children who have been orphaned or abandoned as a result of famine, disease, war, poverty or natural disaster. Our help will enable more vulnerable children to be cared for by a mother, as part of a family in a Children's Village with access to schooling and medical care. SOS Children's Villages, the worlds largest orphan charity, provides family homes for children who have no one else to care for them, 600,00 orphaned or abandoned children are currently cared for by the SOS mothers in clusters of family homes in 450 their unique children's villages, located in 124 countries around the world. A further million benefit SOS outreach programmes, which include nurseries, schools, vocational training in addition to medical and community development centres. SOS Children's Villages also run emergency relief programmes in situations of crisis and disaster and continues to support families in Pakistan and tsunami-affected countries. Mission Statement

To ensure people get the right idea, we'll include a brief statement here that describes our organization. We'll tell people what we want to accomplish and exactly how we plan to do it.

Here we will start with basic First Aid

Those giving First Aid must take responsibility, by assessing the situation. They should take charge of the situation until a more qualified person is available, try to make the most accurate diagnosis as possible, to inform the emergency services when they arrive at the scene. If possible remove the casualty only if he is in further potential life threatening danger. Undertake initial treatment where it is possible, and arrange removal to hospital, instruct anyone nearby to phone the police or the appropriate emergency service.

If there is more than one casualty, it is essential to treat the one that seems to be the most serious. Remember priority should be given to those that are unconscious, for they are more likely to more traumatised than the person that is shouting or moaning. Unconscious patients should be placed immediately into the recovery postion. It is essential to control continuous severe bleeding using bystanders if necessary. Remember to restore the breathing of the casualty if that is necessary, by checking that the airway is unobstructed, if not clear airway and start artificial respiration.

FIRST AID

THE RECOVERY POSITION.

If it is necessary to put a casualty, who is on his/her back into the recovery position, carry out the procedure as follows:kneeling beside the casualty place the victim arms close to the body. Roll the victim gently on his side. Raise his upper arm until it is approximately 90° to the body and then bend the elbow so the hand is in line with the victims head. Raise the upper leg (thigh) until it is 90º and the bend the knee. Pull the arm that is under the body gently backwards to a position behind his back.
The lower most knee should be bent.
This allows the casualty to be comfortable in a stable position. Make sure that the head is turned to one side, (in the direction of the raised hand), to eliminate the possibility drowning on his own vomit.
